As we look to the past to design homes for the future, we see that function was favoured over form, and longevity was top of mind. They were structures that were designed not to maximise floor area, or to be easily built, or to last only 20 years or so like buildings now; they were designed to stand the test of time, to be beacons of architecture for a lifetime.

 
 
 
 

It is evident that good design has never been more important. Architectural input in the homes of today has and will always allow for significantly improved use spaces.  

The Mill: Architecture and Design is an advocate for good design and works across commercial and residential projects.  An ethos though simple can be often forgotten; good design is attainable for everyone, and it does not have to cost the earth.

The Mill had established a successful word of mouth business and has seen consistent growth since its creation. In late 2016 the owners invested in a new brand and website along with moving into a new office. The Mill saw the need to be more present on social media and engaged with Nerio in February 2017 to manage their social media channels.

Through preliminary due diligence when on-boarding the client, we quickly discovered that what the business needed was more than just social media. There was a need to elevate and create awareness of the business while professionalising and positioning The Mill toward an expanding audience.

Engaging with an architect or designer is a long sales cycle, nurturing an audience, enhanced brand credibility and support to ease of engagement, were all important starting points. The shift from start up to established brand is important - the perception with customers, the industry, and the marketplace that The Mill was a professional, experienced and knowledgeable firm was their next step.

Through a website redesign and a content marketing strategy which focused on education, inspiration and informing current and new audiences, we were able to leverage and gain brand awareness which positioned The Mill: Architecture + Design as a professional, knowledgeable and sustainable firm.

We established and maintained an online presence on Instagram, Facebook and a blog. Our approach was to educate the existing and new audiences on the need for good design in the current environment. This need continues to be ever-present in the Canberra market, therefore, remains important to leverage the values of The Mill to inform, educate and inspire their audience.
